Open loop scrubber: Exhaust gas cleaning system using once through sea water under MEPC.340(77).
Optimarin BWMS: Norwegian ultraviolet ballast water treatment system retrofitted under IMO D-2 compliance programs.

Pha Rung Shipyard: Vietnamese shipbuilder at Hai Phong historically part of the Vinashin group.

Pre-Coating Salt Test: Bresle patch measurement of soluble chloride contamination on blasted steel before paint application.

Q

Quay Repair: Repair work performed alongside the yard quay before or after drydocking, including engine room and accommodation projects.
Queen Elizabeth Dock: Large graving dock at A&P Falmouth used for cruise and commercial ship repair in the UK.
Quincy Shipyard: Historic Massachusetts shipyard now redeveloped, referenced in legacy US ship repair literature.

Rainbow Service Berth: Reference yard berth at large Asian repair yards designated for outfitting and final dressing after drydocking.
Ras Laffan Shipyard: N-KOM and Nakilat Damen Shipyards Qatar facility at Ras Laffan serving LNG carriers and offshore vessels.
Recoating Cycle: Drydock paint renewal interval driven by antifouling life, coating breakdown, and operational profile.
Repair Contract: Agreement between owner and yard, often based on BIMCO REPAIRCON, defining scope, price, and liabilities.
Repair specification: Owner-issued repair scope document.
Repair Tender: Process by which an owner requests competitive bids from yards for a defined drydock workscope.
