The surface-combatant vocabulary: carrier arresting gear (AAG), amphibious vehicles (AAV-7A1, ACV), mission areas (AAW), and the destroyer, frigate, and amphibious-ship designations. Grounds each term in the combatant platform or the mission capability it belongs to, complementing the warship-systems sections.
