Trade name occasionally used for Turkish HKC-compliant recyclers; not all Aliaga yards are EU-listed.
End-of-Life Vessel (EOL)
Ship for which the owner has decided not to maintain class or trading certificates and intends to recycle.
ENI Class (Inland)
European Number of Identification used for inland vessels; not directly within HKC scope which addresses sea-going ships of 500 GT and above.
ESCO Marine
Brownsville, Texas, ship recycler that historically dismantled US Navy and MARAD vessels; entered receivership in the mid-2010s.
EU List of Approved Ship Recycling Facilities
The European Commission published list of yards permitted to recycle EU-flagged vessels, comprising facilities in EU member states, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, and India.
EU Ship Recycling Regulation 1257/2013
Regulation of the European Parliament and Council, in force 30 December 2013, with full owner obligations from 31 December 2018.
